DESCRIPTION

Depart from your resort as we make our way toward Opatija - a very famous destination, situated at the foot of Mount Učka. The tourism industry started here back in 1844 when Iginio Scarpa built his villa ''Angiolina'' on the site of what is now the “First of May Park”. Soon after this, the resort was frequented by the rich and famous including Gustav Mahler, Anton Chekhov and Isadora Duncan. Even the Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria used to visit his mistress here. In the eastern part of Istria, only three kilometers from the sea, lies the Medieval town of Labin, today known for its numerous galleries and artists. The most fascinating sight is the central town square with the perfectly preserved loggia and the main Town Gate of St. Flora. After sightseeing and some free time, enjoy a picturesque countryside drive back to your resort.

OPATIJA
Guided walking tour and free time.

In a country full of coastal gems, Opatija is still one of those gems which stand out from the rest. In the northwestern part of Croatia, a small coastal town is one of the top-visited places by tourists. Every city in Europe has its own culture and history and Opatija is no less. A perfect destination for an escape from everyday life and bustle of metropolitan cities, this waterside town is just a ‘sail away.’

Popularly known for its Mediterranean climate and historic buildings reminiscing about the Austrian Riviera, Opatija is a magnificent city with lots of gems hidden in its marvelous coasts. Opatija, being the home of Croatian tourism, is the place where it all began. Exploring the unique seashores, with hillsides and Roman, Venetian and various other cultures, it all began from Opatija.

LABIN
Guided walking tour and free time.

The medieval town of Labin is situated on the hill above Rabac. Its old name of Albona was first mentioned in 285 AD. The birthplace of Matthias Flacius Illyricus, the reformer and collaborator of Martin Luther, it is a cultural and administrative center today. The rich cultural and architectural heritage of Labin is enlivened by number of art ateliers and by the bustling youth gathering in the coffee bars scattered around the old town. The Sculpture Park in nearby Dubrova features over 70 forma viva stone sculptures.
After a walk through the narrow streets of the Old Town, pay a visit to the Town Museum with its archaeological collection and unique in this part of Europe, a miniature coal mine. Have a look at the Memorial collection of Matthias Flacius Illyricus, peek into the art ateliers, enjoy the view of Rabac and Cres island from the Fortica or pop into the small, elegant shops and take refreshments on one of the terraces of the local coffee bars.
